The month of August was declared a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Month by the Department of Higher Education and Training in 2014.
The objective of this declaration was to place the focus on the TVET College Sector and to position the sector as the first choice for prospective students considering to complete a qualification in higher education and training. Secondly, the aim of the TVET month campaign was to correct the perception that TVET qualifications are inferior and irrelevant.
Ehlanzeni TVET College has come a long way with the celebration of August as the TVET Month since its declaration in 2014. The College also participated by hosting annual activities that are aimed at addressing the misconceptions which were identified previously. The TVET Month is also used as a platform for high school learners and out of school youth to get the exposure of what the College can offer, empowering them to be economically active citizens.
Every year, the College host open days to present an inside view of what can be expected when studying at the institution. Open days are a form of large exhibition that shows what the College is offering while allowing those in attendance to get clarity about study options and career choices. Open days are organised by the College to present an opportunity to those considering to enroll with the College to visit and experience the institution at first-hand.
The College celebrated its 2022 TVET Month by visiting high schools giving detailed information about programmes offered, the minimum requirements, applications and registrations processes and the available financial aids.
This was done in collaboration with local radio RISE FM and newspapers where the College announced the dates for open days, inviting young minds to the institution to provide them with the opportunity to learn what the College is about and what it has in store for them to enhance their future career prospects.
