Mthimba Campus is situated in Masoyi near Hazyview. Hazyview is a lush, green sub-tropical farming town in Mpumalanga, renowned for its large banana and macadamia nut industries, contributing about 20% of South Africa's bananas and 30% of macadamia output.

Bordering the Kruger National Park, the town’s name is derived from the shimmering haze that occurs during the heat of summer. Most of the Province of Mpumalanga’s private game reserves are found just east of Hazyview.

The campus is a product of the late OR Tambo’s hands. The Campus started in 1990 as an NGO known as Foundation for Education with Production (FEP) under the guidance of the Youth Education Trust. It was a model of Botswana, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe with accreditation from the British O Level curriculum. The nature of the courses was a half-day study and half-day practical work.

The student intake was mostly from SOMAFCO (Solomon Mahlangu Freedom College, from exile and the nearby community). The educators were seconded from the then GOUT with the understanding of Chief EJ Mabuza.

After the 1994 general election, it changed to be a state-aided college with the name Mthimba Community College. After the merger of technical colleges in 2000-2001, it was named Mthimba Campus, a campus of Ehlanzeni TVET College, and currently has 430 students.  Mthimba Campus is 43km from the Central Office of the College in Nelspruit.
