NSFAS & financial aid

Ehlanzeni College offers DHET NSFAS bursaries to students who meet the funder's requirements. The college assists with applications; NSFAS administers allocation and payment through the TVET colleges e-Wallet system.

No academic application will be considered without proof of application for an NSFAS bursary.

How to apply to the college

Who qualifies?

  • All South African citizens
  • Every recipient of a SASSA grant qualifies for funding
  • Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350,000 per annum
  • Persons with a disability: combined household income not more than R600,000 per annum
  • Students who started studying before 2018: household income not more than R122,000 per annum

Documents you will need

  • Three certified copies of your ID
  • Two certified copies of your parents' or guardians' IDs
  • Two certified copies of IDs of other household members
  • Latest original or certified payslips of parents/guardians
  • Sworn affidavits from unemployed parents or guardians
  • A completed, signed consent form

DHET bursaries are not guaranteed; procedures govern their administration and awarding.

What the bursary covers

In addition to tuition fees (per the DHET fee structure), the bursary provides annual allowances:

Accommodation in an urban area: R25,200 · peri-urban: R18,900 · rural: R15,750

College hostel accommodation: R33,000 · Transport (up to 40 km): R7,350 · Personal care allowance: R2,900

  1. Apply on the myNSFAS portal

    Create a myNSFAS account and submit your bursary application online at my.nsfas.org.za.

  2. Prepare your supporting documents

    Certified IDs, proof of household income and the signed consent form.

  3. Complete your college application

    Submit proof of your NSFAS application with your Ehlanzeni TVET College application.
