Teachers Dashboard

  • As a Teacher logins into the moodle system they will see the courses they are assigned to as shown in the picture below

Course section

The picture below displays the course section, this is the view the Teacher will see with all the different modules and learning materials.

Announcements Section

The Announcements section allows lecturers to let students know about any knew updates on the course for example:

  1. New course updates
  2. New updates to a course
  3. upcoming tests and exams

In the following picture below it shows you how to add announcements and where it will be displayed. The steps to add an announcement is by:

  1. Click on add new topic
  2. Enter the subject of the announcement and then the message for the topic and then click add.

Adding a topic/Module to your course

The way a Teacher will be able to add a topic/module to a course is that they will start by clicking on the turn editing on button

Once turn editing on is enabled, you’ll then click on the add topic button then:

  1. You’ll then be displayed the number of topics you’d like to add.
  2. Once you’ve added the number of topics you’d like to add then you can rename the topic by clicking on the pencil icon.
  3. Once done then you go back to the top of the page and turn editing off.

The way you’d add a learning material like an assignment or test to a module is by:

  1. Turning on editing
  2. Going to that specific module/topic that you’d like to add a learning material
  3. Click on the bottom right of the module and click on add an activity or resource

Once you click on add an activity or resource then you’ll be presented with a pop-up that shows you all the different learning materials that you can

add to a specific topic.

The participants tab shows all the students and lecturers that are assigned to that specific course.

Lecturers are able to unenroll students and enroll students.

Badges

Badges are a good way of celebrating achievement and showing progress. Badges may be awarded based on a variety of chosen criteria and may be displayed on a user’s profile or pushed to their public badge collections in their backpack will display in their Moodle profile.

There are two categories of badges:

  • Site badges – available to users site-wide and related to the site wide activities, like finishing a set of courses.
  • Course badges – available to users enrolled in the course and related to the activities that happen inside the course.

To add a new badge you’d click on add new badge and it will forward you to a new screen and from there it’ll show you fields to fill in as displayed in the image below.

The Grades section shows a list of all the different students and the grades they have obtained for all the different learning materials e.g assignments, tests and quizzes.

The possibilities with this section allows you to:

  1. Export grades
  2. import grades
  3. display grade history

To grade an assignment:

  1. Go to the topic/module that you’d like to grade
  2. click on the assignment

After clicking on the Assignment 1 activity you’ll be presented with a screen where it tells you if you’d like to grade the assignment as shown in the image below.
