Mlumati Campus is situated in a rural area called Kamhlushwa about 35 kilometers from Malelane. It was named after the Mlumati river which passes near the township.
The Campus was built in 1979. The first students were admitted in 1980. Only Engineering studies were offered. The first Manager who was then called the rector was Mr. H Human, his deputy was Mr. K Van Der Merwe and there were five staff members. In 1982 Mr. K Van Der Merwe succeeded Mr. Human as the Manager of the campus.
Business studies were introduced and in 1983 the staff increased to 11 staff members. Dr. S.P Qwabe took over as the Manager in 1994. In July 2004 Dr. G.M Sibiya was appointed Campus Manager of the Campus when Dr. S.P Qwabe was appointed Principal of Nkangala FET College.
Currently, the Campus has a total of 1276 students.
Dr. Sibiya has been Campus Manager at Mlumati since July 2004. Before joining the TVET College sector, he was the Principal of Lovunywa High school.
He is very experienced in Management and Leadership. Dr. Sibiya participates actively in Sports, Arts, and Culture. In the world of sports and wellness, he is a true jack of all trades as he is both coach and adjudicator in the following sporting disciplines: table tennis, tennis, speech contests, and the dramatic art. He has also carved his niche in the music arts where he also coaches and adjudicates. Dr. Sibiya is an inspiring leader, Dr. Sibiya is well trained in chairing effective meetings.
He has motivational skills and he is also quality results-driven with a proven record of excellence despite his Campus’s locational, logistical, and connectivity challenges. He is further qualified to deal with HIV and AIDS-related issues in the Workplace. He consults and takes others’ opinions well.
